56' 0" Trad 1994 Tim Tyler/South Shore Narrowboats
Kentish Man is a sweet 56’ traditional stern narrowboat built in 1994 by Tim Tyler and fitted out by South Shore Narrowboats. She was last blacked in February 2026, and the engine was serviced in November 2025.
She is fitted out in light painted ply to the ceiling, oak ply to the cabin sides, and carpet to the hull sides. Flooring is a mix of carpet, laminate and engineered wood.
The well deck is 4’9”, with wooden lockers either side for storage, and views out over the bow. The cratch cover is in reasonable condition, with separate roll up privacy blinds. The 900L stainless steel water tank is housed below.
Steps lead down, through glazed leaded doors, into the 12’10” saloon. Here is a fixed 2 seat bench with demountable dinette table, an arm chair and footstool, a 23” Samsung 240v TV, a range of storage options, and a Morso Squirrel solid fuel stove. There is room for additional freestanding furniture, or even a sofa bed if required.
Next is the 7’11” horse shoe style galley, with a stainless steel sink, Thetford Midi Prima oven & grill, 4 burner gas hob, microwave, and a mix of high and low level cupboards. A port side hatch brings in additional light and fresh air.
A corridor leads aft, with more cupboards, before heading into the 6’8” bathroom. This features a rectangular shower tray with curtain across, Traveller pumpout toilet, plastic wash basin, and a couple more cupboards.
The 9’9” bedroom follows, with a fixed 6’3” x 4’0” double berth, with storage under and cupboards over. A triple wardrobe provides ample hanging space, and a pigeon box over
Steps lead to the 4’10” engine room, with the Beta 43 engine housed below. Another step leads out onto the stern deck, with 2 taff seats.
She is centrally heated by an Eberspacher diesel fired system connected to 5 radiators. Hot water is supplied by the Eberspacher, engine, or immersion.
12v power is supplied by 4x 105ah domestics, with a separate starter, and 240v power is via the Victron 1.5kva inverter/charger or landline connection.
Lighting on board is halogen throughout.
