70' 0" Traditional 2001 Measham Boats/Ashby Boat Builders
Jasper is a lovely 70’ traditional stern narrowboat built in 2001 by Ashby Boat Builders, on a 1998 Measham Boats hull. She had a full survey carried out in March 2022 (copy available for inspection), and was last blacked including the base plate in May 2024.
The cratch covered well deck is 5’0” with lockers either side.
Steps lead down, through glazed forward doors, into the 17’3” saloon. This large open space features cupboards and shelves along the starboard side, with plenty of room for comfortable arm chairs or a sofa bed. There is also a diesel Lockgate stove, with a back boiler, and a couple of taller cupboards before heading into the galley.
The 8’1” galley features beech block worktops, a stainless steel sink, Beko 230v fridge, Vanette GG6000 oven & grill, NEFF 4 burner gas hob, and heaps of storage. Behind the fridge sits the original plumbing and electrics for a washing machine.
Next is the 6’0” bathroom, with a hip bath and shower over, brand new Thetford PortaPotti, freestanding Cater-Wash washing machine, and a ceramic wash basin with cupboard under.
Following, the 10’0” bedroom features a 6’3” x 4’0” double berth, with drawers under and a cupboard over. A large storage space sits below a double wardrobe at the foot of the bed, and could easily house a freezer or other utilities if required.
The engine room is next, with the Beta BD3 30hp engine taking centre stage, which was last serviced in June 2025 (plus lots of spares on board).
A traditional boat like this wouldn’t be complete without a boatmans cabin, this one features the typical fold out double berth, folding table, fixed bench and plenty of storage. A Salamander Hobbit solid fuel stove helps keep the cabin toasty too!
Steps lead up and out onto the trad stern deck.
She is centrally heated by the Lockgate back boiler connected to 3 radiators, and hot water is via the back boiler, engine, or immersion.
She is set up with 24v power via 3x 100ah domestics (which is 6x 12v cells, the equivalent of 600ah of power!). 240v power is via a Mastervolt 2.5kw inverter, or landline hookup. A Victron Phoenix 24v charger is also installed, and 24v LED lighting throughout.
Jasper packs in an awful lot, and would make a lovely floating home or holiday pad.
