Water Mouse is a sweet 40’ reverse layout cruiser built and fitted out in 1990 by Janell Cruisers. She was last blacked in August 2021, the engine was serviced in February 2023, and a hull survey from July 2021 is available for viewing in the office.
The cruiser stern deck is 7’ 8”, with a rail around (folds out to completely secure the deck). The Lister 2 cylinder air cooled engine is housed below.
Steps lead down through an off centre door into the 8’0” saloon. Here there is a fixed bench (with storage under), another fixed seat, a fold out table, a Hamlet solid fuel stove, and a 24” Bush TV.
Next is the 5’6” galley. The port side features a Carvin 3-way fridge under a wooden worktop. The starboard side worktop is tiled, with a stainless steel sink, Statesmen Legacy oven, grill & 4 burner gas hob, and a range of cupboards and shelves for storage.
The off-corridor bathroom follows (4’8”) with a Thetford Porta Potti loo, ceramic wash basin, and square shower tray with a curtain around.
Following, the 7’2” bedroom features a fixed 6’2” x 4’0” double berth with storage under and shelves over. A single wardrobe sits at the end, by the forward doors.
Steps lead out, through glazed stable doors, onto the 3’3” well deck. There are bench seats either side (with open storage under) and easy access to the gas locker in the bow.
12v power is via 2x 115ah domestic batteries with a separate starter, topped up by an estimated 100w of solar with a solar charge controller. 240v power is via a landline or Sterling ProCombi Q 1500w inverter/charger.
Lighting on board is mostly LED.
Hot water is via a Morco instant gas water heater.
There is no central heating on board, but with a boat this size the solid fuel stove will be perfectly cosy during the winter months.
She is ideal for weekends away, and with a few upgrades could easily become a liveaboard home.
