Water Gypsy is a sweet 50’ reverse layout cruiser stern narrowboat built in 1989 by South West Durham. She is fitted out in Pine T&G and light painted ply for a light and modern feel throughout. She was last blacked in May 2021 with 6 new anodes, and a full survey from July 2021 is available for viewing in the office.
The 7’7” cruiser stern deck features lockers either side and a well positioned wooden plank seat. The Isuzu 42 engine is housed below, which was serviced in Spring of this year.
Steps lead down into the 7’5” galley, with oak worktops, 12v fridge with icebox, Indesit 4 burner gas hob, oven & grill, stainless steel sink, and a range of cupboards, shelves and drawers for storage.
Next is the 5’6” saloon, with a large 3 seat couch with storage space under, which converts to a 6’5” x 4’0” double berth. An Arada solid fuel stove sits alongside more storage.
The 5’6” off-corridor bathroom follows, with a shower over hip bath, Thetford cassette loo (with spare cassette), ceramic wash basin, a set of drawers and a cupboard.
The aft cabin is large at 12’0” with plenty of room to make this into a fixed bedroom. Currently there is 2 sets of drawers and 2 fixed cupboards, with storage under the floor.
A step leads out onto the 4’0” open well deck, with lockers either side.
She is centrally heated by an Alde Comfort gas fired boiler, and hot water is via the engine and an immersion.
12v power is via 2x 110ah domestics, with a separate starter, topped up by 700w of solar. 230v power is via the landline only.
Lighting on board is a mixture of LED and halogen.
With a few upgrades she would make a lovely floating home.
