Waimarama – 57′ Stenson Semi Trad 1996
Waimarama is a 57ft semi traditional narrowboat, which was built in 1996 by Midland Canal Centre. MCC have a long pedigree and have been building canal boats at their Stenson yard on the Trent & Mersey Canal since 1986.
Waimarama has an open well deck from which the saloon is entered through solid hardwood glazed double doors. The saloon has an ‘L’ shaped seating area which converts to a double berth. A Morso Squirrel solid fuel stove heats the area along with Eberspacher driven radiators. There is a 22” TV / DVD in here which has a satellite dish. Between the saloon and the galley is a raised Pullman dinette, which provides a further double berth with storage underneath.
The galley is equipped with a 12v Lec fridge and has a Vanette gas 4-ring hob, oven and grill. A side hatch with glazed insert is opposite the sink area.
The bathroom is located off a starboard side corridor and has a ¾ bath in a tiled unit with a shower over, a sink set into a corner vanity unit and a Dometic pump out toilet. The bedroom is located at the stern of the boat and has a fixed double bed, and also a full height wardrobe.
Starboard side steps with storage inside lead out onto the semi trad deck. A Lister LPW4S, which has a PRM Delta 20 gearbox, is located under the deck floor hatches. The side locker provides storage and there are 2 raised perch seats with cushions.
Used by the present owners as a family holiday boat, Waimarama is kitted out as a comfortable long distance cruising craft for a couple or small family and is the right size to do the whole connected system.
