Vanitas – 62’x10′ Cruiser Stern Widebeam 2013 Nick Thorpe/Owner
Vanitas is a 62’x10’ widebeam built by Nick Thorpe in 2013 and fitted out by her current owner. Much of the fit out is from reclaimed wood, the doors being from a Carmelite monastry in Golders Green, and the oak panelling from old church pews.
The stern deck is large at 7’ long, and the engine, a regularly serviced Barrus Shire 70hp sits under. Propulsion is aided by the Lewmar bowthruster. The gas bottles are in the portside locker, and the batteries in the starboard side locker.
She is reverse layout, so the steps lead down into the 12’ long galley. Utilities comprise of a 5 burner gas hob, oven & grill, a 3 way Waeco fridge, a stainless steel sink and plenty of storage. A side hatch over the sink adds light and air.
A substantial safe and a solid fuel stove sit in between the galley and the 7’10” long saloon. This has a huge L shaped sofa (also serves as a single berth with storage under), and a 42” smart TV sits on top of a chest of drawers.
The first of 3 beautiful arched doors leads into the bedroom. This has a fixed double (6’3”x4’6”, storage under) and at the foot of the bed is a huge walk-in wardrobe. A radiator and a couple of cupboards sit opposite. (the radiators used to be heated by a diesel Bubble stove which has been removed…but could be reinstated).
Through another arched door into the bathroom area. This has a Vetus pump out loo, a large ceramic basin (drawers under), and a ‘wet room’ style curtained shower area. There is a medicine cupboard on the wall next to the Morco instant gas water heater.
Currently a tattoo studio, the forward cabin is a good sized room with many possibilities. It is 10’6” long with another solid fuel stove, a work surface with storage under and a bench seat (also with storage under).
Steps lead up onto the well deck. This has the polypropylene water tank under, with a storage locker in the bows.
The windows and doors are all super secure, and there is also CCTV. On board 12v comes from the bank of 3x 225ah Trojan batteries and 230v is from the Victron 2kw inverter. All the lights are LED and there are 930w of solar through an MPPT controller.
She was last blacked (with four new anodes) in December 2022.
