Tobar Mhoire – 56′ 7″ Trad 1995 Tyler Wilson/Phoenix Narrowboats
Tobar Mhoire is a charming 56’ 7” traditional stern narrowboat built in 1995 by Phoenix Narrowboats, on a Tyler Wilson shell. She has just been blacked and surveyed (June 2023), and the engine was reconditioned in August 2022 including a full service.
The well deck features lockers either side, and a gas locker forward. A table folds down from the cratch board, with views out across the bow.
Steps lead down, through internally opening doors, into the 16’0” saloon. This large room contains a comfortable sofa, Esse Montrose solid fuel stove, Alba 18” 240v TV, breakfast bar, 2 high chairs, and a range of cupboards and shelves for storage (theres even a wine rack!).
Next is the 7’0” galley, with laminate worktops, stainless steel sink, 12v Inlander fridge with icebox, Zanussi oven, grill & 4 burner gas hob, and more cupboards. A starboard side hatch brings in additional light and fresh air.
A utility cupboard housing the Alde comfort gas boiler (connected to 3 radiators) and a washing machine sits between the galley and the bathroom.
The 5’4” walk through bathroom features a corner quadrant shower, Saniflo vacuum flush pumpout loo, and ceramic wash basin.
The 9’0” bedroom follows, with a 6’3” x 4’0” four poster bed style double berth, with storage under and cupboards over. There is a double wardrobe with cupboards above, and a fold down vanity table hidden behind the door.
Steps lead into the 4’2” engine room, with the Beta BV1903 engine housed below. More steps lead out onto the stern deck.
As mentioned, she is centrally heated by an Alde boiler, and hot water is via the Alde, engine or immersion.
Lighting onboard is a mix of halogen and fluorescent strips.
12v power is via 2x 210ah domestics (4x 6v cells), with a separate starter, topped up by 100w of solar with a Steca solar charge controller. 240v power is via a Power System 3kw inverter/charger, or landline.
She has a wonderful homely atmosphere inside, and would be ideal for extended cruising or as a floating home.
