“Theodoric” meaning ‘Leader of the People’, is a stunning 57’ traditional stern narrowboat.
The hull is a Tim Tyler. She was originally fitted out by William Piper Narrowboats and commissioned in 2011. She has very recently been refitted by Jim Birch of Oakcraft Narrowboats, and his work is first class. She is solid oak virtually throughout and the paint on the ceiling & cabin sides is Farrow & Ball. You will wait a while to see another boat with such character and charm as this.
Much of the boat is new. The stern cabin has been refitted in beautiful reclaimed elm. The engine, with only 279 hours on the clock, is under the floor. There is useful storage in here, and the inverter (3kw) in the cupboard was new in August 2017.
The bedroom follows, and has a two poster double bed with an oak wardrobe / chest of drawers at the foot. Two side hatches with inner glazed doors. There is a wall mounted TV as well as a traditional column radiator under an oak shelf.
The bathroom is virtually new. The quadrant shower has just been re-tiled, the basin & oak vanity unit is only two weeks old, the oak cupboard housing the washing machine & tumble dryer is new, and the extractor fan is new. There is a copper piped towel rail in here, and the loo is an electric macerating pump out.
The saloon follows. An exceptionally beautiful room. The solid fuel stove is new, the oak lined pigeon boxes in here and the galley are new, the Parker Knoll sofa is new. The 2nd column radiator is in here and the room feels like a luxurious cottage sitting room. The side hatch offers additional light.
The galley follows. There is plenty of storage space and the cupboards have LED lights which activate on opening. The Heritage aga-type stove is diesel fired, and as well as for cooking, it heats the central heating and the hot water. The fridge is less than a year old, and the dishwasher is new. The pigeon box offers additional light, as does the side hatch over the sink.
The forward cabin offers a dinette & additional double berth. This charming second sitting room, dining room or guest bedroom has another TV, a wardrobe and cupboard space. The steps cleverly retract under the well deck to maximise space.
The oak furnished well deck, with new cratch cover & single or double demountable tables, also turns into another guest summer bedroom for one or a cosy two.
She was re-painted in 2017 and Epoxy 2 pack blacked in 2017. Other new items in 2017 not detailed above include all the batteries, solar panels, galvanic isolator, antique effect dolly light switches, brass porthole rings, and hardwire WIFI with twin external 4G aerial.
Theodoric 57ft Traditional Narrowboat is an amazing boat, and an amazing opportunity to buy a truly individual narrowboat!
