Stepping Stones – 62′ Semi-Trad 2003 Jonathan Wilson/Leigh Narrowboats
Stepping Stones is a lovely 62’ semi-trad narrowboat built in 2003 by Jonathan Wilson with a 15mm base plate, and fitted out by Leigh Narrowboats to a high standard. She has been used as a 5* accredited hire boat, and has even featured on Channel 4’s Great Canal Journeys!
She is fitted out in oak faced ply with oak trim, oak tongue and groove to the ceiling, and a mix of carpet and tile effect laminate flooring. She was last blacked in December 2021.
The open well deck features lockers either side with padded seat cushions, and views across the bow.
Steps lead down into the 12’ saloon. Here there is a large L-shaped dinette with demountable table (converts to spare double berth), Morso Squirrel solid fuel stove, 230v smart TV, and a range of storage.
A pullman dinette follows, providing an additional spare double berth when required, with storage space under. A wifi router connected to an omnidirectional aerial is housed here as well. A port side hatch brings in additional light and fresh air.
The 7’6” galley features black granite worktops, a Belfast sink with water filter tap, Vanette oven, grill & 4 burner gas hob, and plenty of cupboards, drawers and even a wine rack and plate rack for storage.
Next is the off corridor 6’ bathroom, with rectangular shower tray with tiled surround, Tecma macerator pumpout loo, ceramic wash basin, and again more storage.
The bedroom is spacious at 9’ with a 6’2” x 4’0” fixed double berth, double wardrobe and cupboards over the bed.
A 3’ stern cabin/storage room sits at the aft, featuring cupboards and drawers, and would be an ideal space for a washing machine if required.
Steps lead out onto the semi-trad deck, with lockers either side (with padded seat cushions) and two taff seats on the stern. The cocooned Beta 43 engine (NEW 2017) is housed below, with a hospital silencer. Navigation is also aided by a Aquafax 9hp bowthruster.
She is centrally heated by an Eberspacher diesel fired boiler connected to 3 radiators and a towel rail. Hot water is via the engine or Eberspacher.
On board 12v is from 464ah domestic batteries (4x 232ah 6v) and all the lights except one are LED.
230v power is via a Victron 2000w inverter/charger, landline hookup, or an Electrolux 3.5kW Travelpower generator when cruising. A galvanic isolator is also fitted.
She is fully kitted out for liveaboard life, and could be a lovely stepping stone to life on the water!
