Smoko – 57′ Trad 1993 JL Pinder & Sons/Owner
Smoko is a charming 57’ trad stern narrowboat built in 1993 by JL Pinder and Sons. She is fitted out in sapele faced ply with pine trim, and carpet to the hull sides and floor. She was last blacked in July 2021, with a hull survey carried out at the same time.
The 4’2” well deck features bench seats either side, with open storage space under.
Steps lead down into the 10’0” saloon, with a solid fuel stove, and bench seats either side (which convert to a spare double). There is a series of shelves, drawers and a cupboard for storage.
The 12’2” galley follows, with a 12v LEC fridge with icebox, Candy washing machine, stainless steel sink, Logik oven, grill & 4 burner gas hob, and a range of cupboards and drawers. A large walk in cupboard/wardrobe sits midship, opposite a starboard side hatch which brings in additional light and fresh air.
The master bedroom is next, featuring a 6’3” x 4’0” fixed double berth with storage under and shelves over.
Next is the off-corridor bathroom (5’4”), with a corner shower with vinyl surround, Thetford cassette loo, and ceramic basin. Two cupboards and a set of shelves provide ample storage.
A second bedroom sits at the aft of the boat, with a 6’2” x 3’0” single berth. Again there is storage under and shelves over. This could also double up as a home office, as there is plenty of floor space for a desk.
Stepping up, the 5’0” engine room houses the Ford 1.8 diesel engine below. This was last serviced by the owner in July 2022.
12v power is supplied by a bank of 3x 95ah domestics, topped up by 900w of solar, and 1x 95ah starter, with 100w of solar. 240v power is via a Sterling ProCombi 2500w inverter/charger, or landline.
The lighting on board is a mix of LED and fluorescent tubes.
She is centrally heated by an Eberspacher diesel fired system connected to 3 radiators, and hot water is via the engine, or Eberspacher.
Smoko is ideal for extended cruising, and could even make somebody a lovely liveaboard home.
