Slow You Down is a beautiful 50’ reverse layout semi-trad, built in 2018 by Stoke-on-Trent Boats. She has been in the same hands since new, and has been really well cared for, feeling almost brand new inside! She is fitted out in light painted ply and tongue & groove, with ash trim throughout the boat.
The semi-trad stern deck features lockers either side, both with padded seat cushions. The port side locker houses the gas, and there is storage in the starboard side. The Beta 38 engine is housed below, which was serviced in Summer 2021.
Steps lead down into the 12’4” saloon, with a large L-shaped dinette with demountable table. This converts to a 6’5” x 4’0” double if required. There is a Morso Swift stove, Panasonic 32” Smart TV, and storage in the aft steps and under the dinette.
Next is the 7’6” galley, with solid oak worktops, Thetford oven & grill, 3 burner gas hob, 12v Shoreline fridge with icebox, and a large ceramic sink. Plenty of cupboards provide ample storage.
The walkthrough bathroom follows. Making good use of 6’0”, there is a quadrant corner shower with tiled surround, Vetus pumpout loo, and a ceramic wash basin with cupboard below.
The bedroom is the star of the show, as very few narrowboats come with a full width king size berth. The 6’6” x 5’0” bed lifts up on gas struts to access a large amount of storage under. There are also 2 single wardrobes either side of the doorway.
The forward bulkhead features glazed hatch doors, similar to side doors, with emergency access out onto the bow. A large storage locker in the bow can be used to store coal, logs, and other bits and bobs.
She is centrally heated by a Webasto diesel fired system connected to 2 radiators and a heated towel rail, and hot water is via the Webasto, engine or immersion when on landline.
12v power is via a bank of 4x 105ah domestics, with separate starter, and 240v power is via a Victron Multi 2000/80 inverter/charger.
Lighting on board is LED throughout.
