Boat name: Red Grouse
Boat type: Cruiser
Red Grouse 2004 Cruiser stern 50ft narrowboat. The shell was built by the highly regarded Colecraft, and she was beautifully lined out by Colecraft as well. The rest of the fit out was done by the owner who has had her and looked after her since new.
She is a delightful, honest boat, and full of charm. The well deck is protected by a cratch cover, and the cratch board is glazed with a window opening forward.
Down through the stable doors into the 13’6” saloon. There are two armchairs in here, each of which converts into a single bed, a 12v 22” TV / DVD combo, a drop leaf under-gunwale dining table with two chairs, and the Morso Squirrel solid fuel stove (which heats the bedroom radiator).
The galley follows and plays host to a 4 gas burner hob, oven & grill (with a useful pan drawer under), a 12v fridge and the sink. There is cupboard space under the sink (and a small one over), as well as next to the fridge.
Down through the corridor on the starboard side and into the bathroom. There is a tiled, curtained shower cubicle in here, a Thetford cassette loo (with spare cassette), a ceramic basin and a radiator which is heated by the engine.
The fixed double bedroom (the bed is 6’3” x4’) is in the stern cabin. It is nearly 10’ long and houses large drawers and the calorifer under the bed, a wardrobe, a floor to ceiling hanging cupboard and further cupboards over and at the foot of the bed.
The engine room, with the Beta Marine 35 in, is very clean and tidy.
There is no 230v on board, but this could of course be fitted.
Red Grouse 2004 Cruiser stern 50ft narrowboat is a lovely, sound boat. Perfect for holidays, and extended cruising, and she would also make a comfortable home for those wishing to live aboard.
