Raven – 58′ Trad 1997 R&D Fabrications
Raven is a 58’ traditional stern narrowboat built in 1997 by R&D Fabrication and fitted out by Mick Offen. She has a Greaves Ruston Hornsby engine in a designated engine room and offers flexible living and sleeping arrangements and plenty of storage. She is fitted out in a mix of Pine T&G and light oak faced ply and has portholes throughout. The carpeting was replaced in 2020.
The saloon is entered via the good size well deck (cratch cover over). This houses the Morso squirrel diesel stove (with back boiler and seperate diesel tank) and a couple of useful cupboards. Plenty of room in here for a couple of captains chairs or a sofa. The addition of a sofa bed would increase the number of berths on board to six comfortably.
The galley is a walk through arrangement. The cooking facilites are provided by the Vanette GG200 4 burner hob, oven and grill. There is a Logik 230v fridge/freezer and loads of cupboard space. A side hatch over the large stainless steel sink and draining board provides plenty of light and air and a view of the canal whilst doing the washing up!
Next comes the ever popular pullman style dinette which converts to provide an additional double berth. This is attractively upholstered and a curtain provides privacy when being used for sleeping arrangements. Plenty more cupboards in this area and additional storage is available under the dinette. The bathroom is off corridor on the starboard side. The shower is over a good size bath with a folding shower screen. The loo is a Thetford porta potti and the basin sits over a vanity unit.
A sliding door provides access to the engine room which is almost six foot in length. Side hatches to port and starboard will enable the new owner to show off the impressive engine (last serviced in August 2020)! Finally, the stern cabin houses the fixed 4’ x 6’ 2” double berth with storage under and yet more cupboards. Steps lead comfortably up to the 3ft stern deck past the traditional speedwheel controls.
Hot water is provided by the stove or the engine. There is a 1600w Sharpower inverter, a Numax battery charger and a diesel generator (not used by current owner- will probably need a service). Lighting is a mix of LED and fluorescent.
Raven is an ideal live aboard and is ready to make someone a lovely new floating home.
