Petrus – 70′ Trad Stern 2005 Reeves/Steven Goldsborough
Originally built for a sitting member of the House of Lords, Petrus is a stunning 70’ traditional stern narrowboat built in 2005 by Steven Goldsborough, on a Reeves hull. She has been built to an extremely high spec, and fitted out in a mix of oak faced ply and oak T&G, with solid oak trim.
The external paintwork is in excellent condition, showing just how well she has been looked after. The forward lockers have been repainted within the last 6 months, and she was 2 pack epoxy coated in 2017.
The cratch covered well deck is large at 6’0” with a fold down table, 2 forward lockers (one for gas), and removable pad seats on the gunwhales.
Steps lead down into the large saloon. The forward half is 7’6”, with a custom build solid fuel stove, arm chair and footstool, and a couple of cupboards. A safe sits under the forward step, and under well deck storage can be accessed here as well.
The second half of the saloon features an L-shaped dinette with demountable table and fold down bench. This converts to a full width double berth when needed. There is also a 24” JVC wall mounted TV.
Next is the walkthrough galley (8’0”) with rare blue granite worktops, Stoves oven & grill, Argent 4 burner gas hob, Sharp microwave, Coolmatic fridge with separate freezer compartment. Storage is provided by a range of cupboards and drawers, and theres even a handy bin compartment!
The main bathroom is next (6’2”), with a Tecma pumpout loo, a square shower tray with tiled surround, and a ceramic basin recessed into a white granite cupboard top.
The bedroom is 8’8”, with a 6’0” x 4’6” cross bed, drawers either side and cupboards over. A single wardrobe and drawers under the bed provide ample storage.
A door between the bedroom and second bathroom can close off the back half of the boat for guests. Another Tecma pumpout loo, shower and ceramic basin provide comfortable guest facilities similar to the first .
The 8’6” stern cabin features 2 single berths, both 6’3” x 2’2”, which can be made up into a full width double. A fold down desk converts the cabin into an office when needed. An Indesit 4kg washing machine is also housed in here. Side hatches on both sides and the houdini hatch over bring in additional light and fresh air.
Steps lead up into the engine room, with the transverse hydraulic propulsion Nanni 55 engine housed below. Navigation is aided by a bow camera with stern video feed, and a hydraulic bowthruster. Steps lead out onto the stern deck.
She is centrally heated by a Webasto diesel fired system connected to 3 radiators and 2 towel rails. Hot water is via the engine, Webasto or immersion.
12v power is supplied by a bank of 4x 110ah domestics, topped up by approximately 400w of solar. 240v power is via a Mastervolt 2kw inverter, 3kw Travel Power generator, or landline. A Mastervolt 12/50-3 battery charger is also installed.
Lighting onboard is LED throughout.
There is a huge amount of features on this boat, with so many cleverly designed space savers. She can comfortable sleep 6, and host many more for dinner. She will make somebody a lovely floating home, and is ideal for extended cruising.
