My Talitha – 62’6″ Trad 2003 Tim Tyler/Roger Myers
My Talitha is a stunning and unique 62’6” Trad stern 2003 narrowboat. Tim Tyler built the shell, and she was fitted out by Roger Myers from materials left over from the Art Deco re-fit of the Gentlemen’s Motor Yacht MY Talitha (worth a google – amazing 1930’s superyacht).
She is beautifully fitted out in a combination of Maple, Beech & Walnut and the craftsmanship is first class.
The cratch covered well deck has a glazed cratch board and the stainless steel water tank is under (along with a lot of storage). The 3 gas bottles are in the forward locker. Through the glazed front doors into the saloon. This is really cosy and has a chaise longue, two comfy chairs and two stools. There is also a solid fuel stove and a wall mounted TV.
The galley is 8’ long and has a washing machine, 12v fridge (with icebox), a stainless steel sink with drainer, four burner gas hob, oven & grill and plenty of storage space. The worktops are beech, and there is a pigeon box over head and a side hatch over the sink.
Aft of the galley is the dinette area. This comfortably seats four, there is storage (and a 12v freezer) under, and it converts into a spare double berth. A side hatch adds light and air.
A door leads into the walk through bathroom. There is a good sized quadrant shower with tiled surround, a Vacuflush pump out loo and a ceramic counter sunk wash basin over a cupboard. There is also a spare Porta Potti on board for emergencies.
The engine room is next. The Beta JD3 sits in the middle and there are side hatches either side. The calorifier is in here (heated by the engine, the central heating or an immersion heater) with a cupboard over, and the electrics are housed here also. There is a wall mounted Travelpower 3.5kw generator as well.
The bedroom is in the aft cabin. The fixed double (storage under) is 6’4”x4’4” and at the foot of the bed is a stylish dressing table a cupboard with a traditional drop down table and either side of the steps are further cupboards. Steps lead up to the rear deck.
She was last blacked in August 2022 (with 6 new anodes), and the engine was serviced at the same time. She is centrally heated by an Eberspacher diesel fired boiler. 230v is from the landline, the 2kw Victron inverter / charger or the Travelpower generator. 12v is from the bank of 4x110ah domestics (new July 2021) . The lights are a mixture of LED & halogen.
She benefits from a full survey in 2019.
She is a wonderful, characterful boat, ready for immediate occupation.
