Micky Jay – 58′ Semi-Trad M&D Engineering/Severn Valley Boat Centre 2008
Micky Jay is a charming 58’ semi-trad narrowboat, built in 2008 by M&D Engineering and beautifully fitted out by Severn Valley Boat Centre. It is rare to see a boat of this age so well presented for market; she had a full re-paint in 2021, blacked in July 2020 (with six new anodes), new cratch cover & pramhood in late 2020 and brand new leisure batteries. She is in superb condition both inside and out.
The lovely cratch covered well deck leads through glazed stable doors into the saloon. This is a cosy room with two captains armchairs (with footstools), a solid fuel stove, a TV/DVD and plenty of shelves for storage. This leads into the L shaped dinette area. This has two dining table options – a beautiful freestanding (and extendable) solid oak one, or the standard demountable table stored under the gunwale. Six could comfortably dine, and it makes up into a spare double berth. There is storage under (also housing a 12v freezer) and a side hatch opposite.
The galley is nearly 9’ long. The worktops are Corian and utilities comprise of a 12v fridge (with icebox), a sink (with filtered drinking water tap), a microwave, 4 burner gas hob, oven & grill, and plenty of storage. There is an extractor light over (also one in the bathroom).
The bathroom follows. The quadrant style shower is tiled with glass door, the basin is ceramic & the loo is a composting one. The washing machine is neatly concealed under the basin.
The bedroom is in the aft cabin. The bed is a good sized cross bed (6’2”x5’) with storage over and under, and there is a host of cupboards/wardrobe for storage including a tiled wet hanging cupboard. There is also a wall mounted TV/DVD player.
Steps lead up into the semi trad cockpit. The engine sits under and the stern is protected by a pramhood. Propulsion is aided by the bowthruster. There are a couple of taff seats at the rear.
She is very well equipped for liveaboard. She has 400w solar, a 3.5kw Travel Power generator, an 1800w inverter, and a bank of four (NEW) leisure batteries for 12v. She also has a Galvanic Isolator.
She is centrally heated by a diesel fired Webasto system, and hot water is heated by the engine, the Webasto or an immersion heater. The water tank is stainless steel and all the lighting is LED.
This boat has been so well cared for and is ready for immediate occupation by the lucky new owners.
