Louise – 64’6″ Trad Stern 1989 Stowe Hill Marine
Louise is a charming 64’6” traditional stern narrowboat built here in 1989 by Stowe Hill Marine. She is beautifully fitted out in oak, with roses & castle artwork by Peter Hill and she oozes character.
The well deck is large at 7’ long. There is a cratch cover (with clear panels) and a glazed cratch board. This is a lovely social area. The water tank is underneath and the two gas bottles sit in the bow locker.
Steps lead into the 17’ saloon. This has a large four seater sofabed, a Morso solid fuel stove, a 22” TV/DVD, a CD/radio and a coffee table. The dining table is in the form of a scumbled and traditionally painted drop down table, based on the style of the traditional boatmans cabin.
The galley is also a good size at 9’ long. The furniture in here is also scumbled with roses and castles and offers plenty of storage. Utilities comprise of a 4 burner gas hob, oven, a stainless steel sink, a microwave oven, a fridge and a dishwasher.
A corridor, with a floor to ceiling cupboard, leads to the bathroom. This has a ceramic basin, a pumpout loo and a curtained shower cubicle with extractor fan in the ceiling.
The bedroom is next. The fixed double is 6’4” x 4’ and has storage under. There is a cupboard over the head end and a large wardrobe at the other, with a small drop down desk in between the bed & wardrobe.
The stern cabin houses the engine. This is a Lister STW, recently serviced. The electrics and the washing machine are housed in here also.
She is centrally heated by an Alde gas boiler to finrads through the boat. Hot water is heated by the Alde or the engine. 230v is from either landline or the 2.8kw inverter, and 12v is from the bank of 2x 230ah AGM domestic batteries (new 2021). 200w of solar keep the batteries topped up. Lights are mainly flourescent, although there is under gunwale LED lighting in the bedroom & corridor. She also has a galvanic isolator.
She was repainted in 2017, and she has just (Nov 2022) been blacked (with new anodes). There is a full survey from October 2022.
She is a lovely boat, well equipped & ready to go.
