Juniper – 58′ Trad 2006 Tim Tyler / Ben Harp
Juniper is a 58ft traditional style narrowboat built in 2006 by Ben Harp with the lovely hull by Tim Tyler. The boat, as you would expect, has elegant lines and quality steelwork. The interior fit out shows attention to detail, with the galley and other cupboard and shelving units custom built, mostly using ash. Ash is in fact used for the cabin linings as well, giving the boat a pleasingly light and spacious feel internally.
Juniper has been really well looked after, and is a credit to her owners. Repainted in 2015, re-blacked in 2020 and surveyed (survey available) in 2018.
Juniper is conventionally laid out. The well deck is good size with good storage, also housing the diesel tank for the stove. Entry through glazed hard wood doors. Solid oak flooring is a feature throughout this boat, and the 14ft saloon has a 22” LG TV and a DVD unit. There are two very comfy chairs with footstools. The diesel stove heats the room.
The open plan galley is next. Lots of light and storage cupboards, and has integrated fridge and washing machine units built in below the granite work tops. The cooker is gas. A short corridor leads aft, off which lies the shower room and wc, which has a good sized rectangular tiled shower cubicle with curtain, a Sanimarin pump out wc, and a countertop ceramic basin over a vanity unit. The corridor then opens out into the large bedroom area, which has ample storage with a double wardrobe, built in chest of drawers and under bed storage. The permanent 4’ double berth extends to 5ft in width, and it is perfectly possible to leave this erected and still walk past. The aft cabin is separated by a half height bulkhead, and has gentle steps up to the rear doors. Beneath the floor here lies the Beta Marine 43hp engine. On board 230v is supplied by landline, a 3.5kw Travel Power generator or the 3kw inverter. 12v is from a bank of 4 domestic batteries (new in 2018). She also has 200w of solar power.
Most of the lighting is LED, and hot water is supplied by either the engine, the diesel stove or an immersion heater. The water tank is stainless steel.
Juniper really is in sparkling condition, a pleasure to steer and is ready to take away.
