Jaywalker – 42′ Trad 1984 was built in 1984 by Stoke on Trent Boat Builders (No. 22). She started life as a 32’ boat and the current owners, having bought her 27 years ago in 1991, had her stretched to 42’. They have loved and cherished her since, and it shows.
She is one of those boats whose feeling of space and storage defies the actual length of the boat.
The trad stern leads into a stern cabin which houses the BMC engine (reconditioned in 2013), a cupboard with storage, the calorifier and electrics, and the gas locker. The corridor on the starboard side passes the shower room/wc and leads to the cosy dinette area. This could be left made up as a fixed double, left as a dinette or used by day as a dinette and very quickly made into the bed at night.
The galley, with granite worktops, follows housing a double sink unit (with water filter), a 12v fridge, a 4 burner gas hob, oven & grill and storage a-plenty.
The 10’6” saloon follows. This used to have a solid fuel stove in, but the owners preferred to remove it. The collar is still in the roof though so one is very easily installed if required. There is a side hatch in here on the SB side, a gate leg dining table (ideal for towpath dining also), and a sofabed for seating and additional berths. The TV aerial points are in here.
Two seats on the well deck make for a lovely conservatory-type area, and there is ample storage underneath, accessed from the saloon.
On board central heating is sourced from a Kabola diesel fired system which heats three radiators. Lighting is LED throughout, and hot water is provided by either immersion (when on landline), the Kabola or the engine. She was blacked just a year ago and last serviced in March 2018.
She comes fully equipped with the necessary equipment to turn the key and go.
She has been so well loved and looked after, she oozes personality and will make someone a charming home or holiday boat. Jaywalker – 42′ Trad 1984
