Jaywalker – 42′ Trad 1984 Stoke on Trent Boatbuilders
Jaywalker is a 42’ Traditional stern narrowboat built in 1984 by Stoke on Trent Boat Builders (No. 22). She started life as a 32’ boat and the previous owners, having bought her 31 years ago in 1991, had her stretched to 42’. She was then bought in 2018 by the current owner. She has had two surveys since 2017.
For a 42’ boat, she offers enough space for comfortable living or holidays.
The trad stern leads into a stern cabin which houses the BMC engine (reconditioned in 2013), the calorifier and electrics, and the gas locker.
The corridor on the starboard side passes the shower room/wc and a floor to ceiling shelving cupboard and leads to the cosy bedroom. This used to be a dinette / double bed combination, and could easily be reinstated as such. There is storage under.
The galley, with Italian granite worktops, follows housing a double sink unit, a 12v fridge, a 4 burner gas hob, oven & grill (NEW) and storage a-plenty.
The 10’6” saloon follows. This has a Morso Solid fuel stove (NEW 2018) There is a side hatch in here on the port side, and room for a gateleg dining table and a sofabed (both of which the previous owner had, so there is room). The TV aerial point is in here. The storage chest at the front doors double up as a step to the cratch covered well deck. There is ample storage underneath, accessed from the saloon.
On board heating is sourced from the solid fuel stove and hot water is provided by either immersion (when on landline), or the engine. She was last blacked in 2019 and serviced in 2020 (used very little since). The water tank is integral, 230 litres.
She has a bank of 3 domestic batteries, and one starter. All the lights are LED. 230v is from the Sterling 2.5kw inverter / charger, and she has a landline hook up point.
She has lots of potential and will make a lovely floating home for someone.
