Idle Allyce – 60′ Trad Reeves / Merlin Narrowboats 2003
dle Allyce is a stunning example of a magnificantly cared for narrowboat, built in 2003 by Reeves and fitted out beuatifully by Merlin Narrowboats. She has been in the same loving hands since launch, and she is pristine both inside and out, and superbly equipped for living aboard.
She is a 60’ trad, stunningly fitted out in oak with cherry trim, and with Antico flooring throughout. She oozes comfort and luxury.
The good size well deck, with cratch cover, leads into the saloon. This is a cosy open plan room, housing an armchair, a Morso diesel stove, TV & CD player and cupboards & shelves a-plenty. An L shaped couch sits aft, and this converts into a spare double berth. A gateleg table is stored here for dining. A side hatch adds light and air.
The walk through galley is spacious and houses all the necessary utitilites; a sink with drainer, a tower of microwave, grill, eye level oven and 12v fridge. There is a separate 4 burner gas hob, and many cupboards. Ample storage is one feature of this boat.
The first bathroom is off the starboard side corridor. The loo is a pumpout, the basin ceramic, there is a radiator and the shower sits over the bath with a tri-screen glass panel.
The bedroom is luxurious. The cross bed is a kingsize at 5’ wide, and there are large wardrobes on either side of the bed with further cupboards both over and around.
Moving aft is the USP of this boat – a second wc / utility room. This contains a casette loo, a wash basin, the washing machine and an airing cupboard. Shelves fold down over both the loo and the basin to provide work surfaces. No climbing over each other for midnight tinkles on this boat!
The stern cabin houses the engine, a Beta 43. Propulsion is aided by the Vetus bowthruster.
The water tank is polypropylene and large at 820 litres, and the central heating is an Eberspacher diesel fired system to Finrads through the boat. Hot water is supplied by the Eberspacher, the engine or the immersion heater.
230v is supplied by the landline, the 1500w inverter, and she also has a 3.5kw Travel Power generator. 12v is supplied by a large bank of 12v batteries.
The paintwork is the original and in very good condition, and the cratch cover is immaculate.
Idle Allyce is simply a wonderful craft, a tribute to her current owners, and a privilege for her next.
