Iddons Way – 62′ Trad 2000 Steve Hudson
Iddons Way is an excellently fitted out 62’ trad stern narrowboat, built by Steve Hudson in 2000. She is well presented with a full repaint completed at the start of this year, and benefits from a recent engine service in September 2021, and a recent survey in October 2021, with blacking at the same time.
The Josher bow flows nicely into the recessed tug deck front, with a built up storage locker for the gas.
Stepping down into the main cabin, the quality of the woodwork is immediately obvious. She is fitted with oak tongue and groove to the ceiling and cabin sides, oak faced ply to the hull sides, and solid oak flooring throughout.
The saloon, comfortable at 10’ 5”, also extends partway under the forward deck. This room features 2 captains chairs with a footstool, a 19” TV/DVD combi, Arada multi fuel stove, and plenty of large cupboards and shelves. The over-head houdini hatch brings in additional light and fresh air.
The bedroom comes next, with a fixed 6’3” x 4’0” double birth, and a range of drawers and cupboards for storage. There is also additional storage space under the bed, and a spare Porta Potti loo.
The off-corridor bathroom follows, with a tiled shower surround with curtain, Vacuflush pumpout toilet, and ceramic basin over vanity unit.
The well equipped galley features a 230v LEC fridge, Bosch washer/dryer, Vanette GG2200 oven & grill, Hotpoint 4 burner gas hob, and a wide selection of storage options. A port side hatch and over-head houdini hatch bring in more light and fresh air.
The adjoining engine room houses the completely cocooned Beta BV2203 engine with a hospital silencer, built in under more workspace. This room could be used as an extension of the galley, making use of the additional surface and double side hatches as a breakfast bar or dining table with a view.
The boatmans cabin comes last, with a Premier solid fuel stove, seating bench and lots more storage.
12v power is supplied by the bank of 4x 110ah AGM batteries, with separate starter, topped up by 250w of solar with solar controller. 230v power is supplied by either the 2.5kVa inverter, 7kVa travel power generator, or landline. She could easily run fully electric if required, simply by changing the galley hob.
She is centrally heated by a Kabola E3 diesel fired heater, connected to 4 radiators, and hot water is supplied by the Kabola, engine or 1kw immersion.
The lights are a mix of halogen and fluorescent tubes.
Iddons Way is fully equipped for a life on the canal, and will make somebody a lovely liveaboard home.
