Houstons Problem – 55′ Cruiser Reverse Layout 2009 Jenny Wren Narrowboats
Houstons Problem is a charming 55’ reverse layout cruiser stern narrowboat built in 2009 by Jenny Wren Narrowboats. She has been well prepared for sale including a recent blacking (Feb 2022), new anodes, and the 80kgf bowthruster has been serviced too (Feb 2022).
She is fitted out with oak faced ply with oak trim, and solid oak flooring throughout.
The stern deck is large at 8’0” with storage lockers either side, covered by a pram hood (new in 2019 along with the cratch cover). The Barrus Shire 50hp engine is housed below.
Steps lead down in to the 14’2” saloon, with 2 single chair beds, matching footstools, and a range of cupboards and shelves. The 22” TV conveniently folds back out of the way when not in use.
In the aft port side corner, hidden inside what appears to be another cupboard, sits a shower room with a Thetford Porta Potti, ideal for rainy day cruises.
The 8’2” galley follows, housing the stainless steel sink, Heritage range cooker, microwave, mini oven/grill, plenty of cupboards and drawers, and even a dishwasher! Theres a real fresh and light feeling in this room, with a large skylight over and starboard side hatch.
Next is the bathroom, which features a Jabsco pumpout loo, ceramic wash basin, two cupboards and three drawers. The bath has been removed, opening up the space for new owners to install a shower or bath, and maybe even a small washing machine too.
The bedroom is in the forward cabin. The fixed 6’4” x 4’0” bed can be extended as required, with enough room to access the wardrobe and cupboards over the bed. A portable 12v cool box sits near the forward end, for midnight snacks.
Steps lead out on to the well deck. As she is a gas free boat, the forward lockers can be used for storage.
The central heating is from the Heritage diesel fired range, which heats 3 radiators and a towel rail, and hot water is supplied by the range and an immersion.
12v is supplied by the bank of 4 domestic batteries, with one starter and one dedicated bowthruster battery. 230v is supplied by a 3kW inverter, and 3.5kW travel power generator when on the move.
Lighting is all LED.
Houstons Problem will make somebody a lovely liveaboard home.
