Holly – 43’0″ Trad Stern Mike Heywood 1992
Holly is a charming 43’ trad stern narrowboat built and fitted out in 1992 by Mike Heywood. She has been lovingly updated by her current owners over the past two and a half years, with a modern off-white and sage green painted interior.
She benefits from a recent blacking (Aug 2022), roof repaint (2021) and various parts of the exterior repainted this year as well. A survey from 2020 is available for viewing in the office, with all remedial works and recommendations completed.
The cratch covered well deck is 4’0”, with a folding table for al fresco dining. Steps lead down into the saloon.
The 10’10” saloon feels cosy and welcoming, featuring a Hobbit multi fuel stove, 2 seater sofa, coffee table, storage trolly, and desk area. There is room for additional furniture, or to swap for a sofa bed if required.
The galley is compact at just 5’0” but makes use of every available space. There is a Vanette oven, grill and hob, a good size sink and draining board and a 12v Shoreline fridge with icebox (NEW 2020). Additional shelves and cupboards provide more than adequate storage.
Next is the bathroom, which was completely remodelled in 2021, with a large quadrant corner shower, ceramic basin, solid oak topped vanity cupboard, and composting loo.
The bedroom houses an impressive solid oak fronted king sized width bed, on gas struts allowing for quick and easy access to storage under. A shelved wardrobe space can be accessed over the bed, with an additional drawer under.
A step leads into the engine room at the aft, with the Mitsubishi FMK4 engine housed below.
12v power is supplied by the bank of 3x 110ah domestics, with separate starter, topped up by 500W of solar with a Victron MPPT solar charge controller and Victron smart battery monitor. 240v power is from the Victron 1600w inverter/charger or landline. The lighting onboard is LED throughout.
Hot water is provided by the engine or the immersion (when on shore power). There is also the option to add a back boiler to the Hobbit stove to provide more flexibility with regards to heating and hot water.
Holly is tried and tested as a liveaboard home, and the clever use of space makes her feel much bigger than 43’. She’s ready for new adventures, and will make her new owners proud.
