Hilhouse & Co – 60′ Semi Trad 2002 Reeves/Reading Marine
Hilhouse & Co is a lovely 60’ semi-trad narrowboat built in 2002 by Reading Marine on a Reeves hull. Named after a famous hat makers in London, she has been built with similar elegance, fitted out with oak faced ply and oak trim throughout.
She was last blacked in January 2021, and a survey from July 2015 is available for viewing in the office.
The cratch covered well deck features lockers either side, with the gas locker forward. A demountable table can be used externally or in the saloon depending on the weather.
Steps lead down through glazed stable doors into the 11’3” saloon. There are 2 single chair beds (which can be used as one double berth), a diesel Refleks stove, 240v Technika 21” TV, side table, and plenty of shelves and cupboards. Side hatches either side and houdini over bring in additional light and fresh air.
Next is the 8’4” galley, with a stainless steel sink, Newworld oven & grill, Seimens 2 burner gas hob, Zanussi fridge and freezer unit, twin tub style washer, and a range of cupboards, drawers and shelves for storage.
The main bathroom follows (5’5”) with a large corner bath (shower over), Vacuflush pumpout loo, and ceramic wash basin.
The bedroom is 9’1” with a large double cross bed (6’1” x 5’0”), wardrobes either side, Alba 16” TV, and plenty more storage.
A second WC follows, with another Vacuflush pumpout loo and ceramic wash basin. There is room in here for additional built in storage, or extra utilities if required.
Following this, the 5’3” stern cabin features another single cross berth, more cupboards, and the boat electrics.
Steps lead out onto the semi-trad deck. There are 2 locker chairs that can be moved as needed, as the semi-trad sides open for easier access. This was designed to allow the first owner to store a motorbike on the back. The silent cocooned Beta 43 engine is housed below. Navigation is also aided by a Nobles hydraulic bowthruster.
She is centrally heated by an Eberspacher diesel fired system connected to 3 radiators and 2 towel rails. Hot water is via the engine or Eberspacher.
12v power is via 4x 150ah AGM domestic batteries, topped up by an estimated 200w of solar, with a separate starter battery. 240v power is via a Mastervolt 2kW inverter, with a separate 80amp Mastervolt charger, and landline hookup.
Lighting on board is mostly LED.
What more can be said about such a vessel! She really is ready for immediate occupation!
