Hattie – 60′ Trad 1999 Norton Canes/Blue Haven Marine
Hattie is a superb example of a Norton Canes quality boat, fitted out by the well thought of Blue Haven Marine and with hatches and back cabin wonderfully decorated by the late Ron Hough making it a piece of canal history too. No expense was spared in creating the original boat and this has continued through the owners with no expense spared with on-going maintenance.
Entering the boat from the front end there is plenty of storage in lockers which have padded seats and a drop down table hiding another locker under the canvas cratch cover.
As you step down into the saloon, the richness of the African Walnut woodwork with solid ash T&G ceiling is immediately welcoming. Also immediately obvious is the amount of storage space cleverly fitted into the boat. A recliner armchair sits opposite the hidden TV cupboard, and an Arrow solid fuel stove is backed up by an efficient Eberspacher radiator system.
The galley is compact and utilises its space well, with side hatches at each end, and an extractor over the cooker. The cooker is being replaced with a brand new one prior to sale. A 24v LEC fridge (with icebox) and a washing machine complete the equipment list here. The worktops are Italian tiles.
A starboard side bathroom features a decent sized shower cubicle with a powerful mixer & extractor light over, a macerator pump-out toilet and ceramic sink over large vanity unit. A wardrobe is accesible from the corridor.
The bedroom comes next, the 6’3” x 4’6” bed having a pull out allowing full width to be enjoyed. There is storage under, opposite and next to the bed.
The engine room follows, at the boats’ heart is its Gardner 3LW, powering through a hydraulic drive thus unusually giving an almost full height back cabin. The engine has a complete and very comprehensive service and rebuild history by the eminent Charles Mills. The electrics are controlled by a 24V Mastervolt narrowboat system.
Last but definitely not least is the classic layout back cabin, scumbled and artwork by Ron Hough. The drop down table panel has been designed as side opening wardrobe, this could be changed to traditional quite easily. Headroom is better than usual due to the hydraulic drive.
Up the steps to the rear steering position, an unecumbered view along the sleek lines of this stunning boat which will turn heads (and ears) wherever you cruise.
