Frances May – 36′ Trad 1994
Frances May is a lovely 36’ traditional stern narrowboat built in 1994 by the Stoke on Trent Boat Building Co.
She is in very good condition. She was re-painted in 2009 and the paintwork is still very good. She was blacked in August 2019 and the cratch cover was new in 2018; all in all she is a very presentable boat offering more space and storage than you would think at 36’.
The covered well deck offers outside seating and has storage under the benches. This leads into the saloon. This has two 6’6” opposing bench seats in between which is a demountable dining table which neatly stores under the gunwale in the galley. These bench seats, with storage under, convert into a large double berth which is the sleeping accomodation on board.
A Kabola diesel stove with back boiler sits between the saloon and the galley.
The galley itself is a walk through arrangement and utilities consist of a stainless steel sink with draining board, a 4 burner gas hob, oven & grill, a 12v fridge with icebox and ample storage space in cupboards and on shelves. There is a pigeon box in the ceiling over and a side hatch on the starboard side adds light and air.
A corridor leads to the bathroom. This has a Mansfield pump out loo, wash basin, a huge wardrobe / airing cupboard and a 3/4 bath with shower attachment.
The stern cabin is last and the engine, a Beta 28, is under the deck boards.
Central heating on board is provided by either the diesel stove or a diesel fired Webasto.
Hot water is provided by the engine, the diesel stove or the Webasto; The battery bank was new in 2018 and she has a landline for 230v supply.
She is a lovely boat, full of charm and character and is ready to go.
