Dragonfly – 68′ Trad 2004 Scott Welding / Dave Savage
Dragonfly is a charming 68” traditional stern narrowboat built in 2004 by Scott Welding & Fabrication, and fitted out by Dave Savage. The woodwork is of excellent quality throughout, with a mix of ash faced ply with oak trim, and painted ply with ash and oak trim to the cabin and hull sides.
She has been well cared for, benefiting from a recent hull survey and blacking at the same time in October 2021.
The cratch covered well deck features a large forward locker and freestanding pub-style table, with views across the bow.
The saloon is generous at 16’3” long and features a Bubble diesel stove with back boiler, and a series of cupboards and shelves for storage. Towards the aft end sits a fixed dining table with a bench and stools, and plenty of floor space towards the forward end for additional freestanding furniture or chairs.
The 6’2” long galley follows, with a Shoreline 12v fridge with icebox, Stoves Newhome 4 burner gas hob, oven & grill, microwave, and plenty of cupboards for storage. A starboard side hatch over the hardwood worktops brings in extra light and fresh air.
Next is the off-corridor bathroom, with a Thetford cassette toilet, ceramic wash basin, and tiled shower cubicle. The corridor also features a port side hatch.
The bedroom, large at 13’0” long, features a fixed 6’3” x 4’0” double birth, 3 half wardrobes with shelving over, a chest of 6 drawers, and heaps of under bed storage. There is also a wall mounted wine rack for that easy to reach nightcap.
The large engine room follows, with a wide range of cupboards, drawers and shelves. The 43hp Beta Marine engine is housed here, which was recently serviced in September 2021.
A second toilet room can be accessed from here as well, with a Royal Porta Potti and stainless steel basin.
She is well equipped with 12v power supplied by the bank of four 120ah domestic batteries, and one starter, topped by 256w of solar. 230v power is from the 1kw Nikkai inverter, or landline. There is also a Numax battery charger, and Sterling alternator regulator fitted.
The lighting on board is a mix of halogen and LED.
She is centrally heated by the back boiler fitted to the diesel stove, with pipes running throughout the boat, and a radiator in the bathroom. Hot water is supplied by the engine, back boiler, or immersion.
Dragonfly is a full of character, with excellent woodwork and highly decorative stained glass throughout, all set of liveaboard life.
