Dogrose – 49’1″ Cruiser Stern Reverse Layout 1994 Colecraft/Viking Afloat
Dogrose is a charming 49’ 1” reverse layout cruiser stern narrowboat boat built in 1994 on a Colecraft shell. She was originally fitted out by Viking Afloat as a hire boat, with oak faced ply and sapele trim throughout, and has since undergone extensive upgrades to the fit out, electrics and engine bay.
She was shot blasted and zinc coated in 2014, and blacked with 2pk epoxy at the same time. She was then blacked with 2pk again in April 2022, with little evidence of damage to the original coatings.
The cruiser stern deck (7’6”) houses 4 gas bottles in the rear locker, with padded seats over, and is covered by a pram hood in good condition. The Nanni 4.150 37.5hp engine is housed below, which was new in approx 2007, along with the exhaust and prop shaft, and was recently serviced (April 2022). An Axium propellor was fitted in 2011 to aid navigation.
Steps lead down into the 6’6” galley, with a stainless steel sink, Vanette gas oven & grill, Vanette 4 burner gas hob, 3-way fridge with icebox (currently on 12v), and a range of cupboards and shelves. The solid sapele parquet flooring starts here and runs throughout the boat.
Next is the 9’5” saloon, with an L-shaped fixed bench which easily converts to a spare double or 2 single beds. Theres plenty of storage space beneath the bench too. The Stovax multifuel stove sits in the corner, with a starboard side hatch above that.
The 5’0” bathroom follows, which was refitted in 2009, and features a pumpout loo, ceramic basin, and rectangular shower with a tiled surround. A set of shelves and a vanity cupboard provide ample space in here for storage.
The bedroom is next, with a full sized 6’2” x 4’6” double berth, drawers under, shelves over, and single wardrobe at the end.
The forward cabin houses two fixed benches, which can be used as 2 single berths or a spare double when needed, and is even wide enough to sleep 3!
A step leads out on the well deck, with lockers either side, and access to the bow locker from a hatch in the front. A clothes rail is housed above head height, turning this space in to a laundry room in summer.
She is centrally heated by an Alda gas boiler, connected to 2 radiators, 1 fin rad and a towel rail, and hot water is supplied by the engine or immersion.
12v power is supplied by 3x 130ah domestics, and a separate starter, and 240v can be obtained from the landline. The Sterling ProCharge charger keeps the batteries topped up when plugged in. The lighting is LED throughout.
A lovely cottage-like boat ready for liveaboard life or weekends away.
