Damocles – 62′ Reverse Layout Trad 2018 Mel Davis/Jim Birch
Damocles is a superb 62’ reverse layout trad stern narrowboat built in 2018 by Mel Davis. She has been fitted out by Jim Birch to an exceptional standard, and she really is one-of-a-kind!
She is extremely well presented, having been fully repainted in November 2021 by Steve Furniss, and 2pk epoxy blacked at the same time. The level of care in her upkeep gives her the appearance of a brand new boat.
Steps lead down from the traditional stern deck into the aft engine room. The Beta Marine 4 cylinder B50 engine is housed below, which was serviced in April 2022.
This leads into the open-plan galley area (10’6”), and you are instantly aware of the high quality woodwork on this boat! The galley features a Heritage Duette range, 2 ring induction hob, Russel Hobbs microwave, solid oak worktops, integral 230v fridge, separate 230v freezer, Hoover washer/dryer, Belfast sink, and Prima dishwasher. Side hatches either side bring in additional light and fresh air. The curves and thickness of the woodwork is stunning.
Next is the 13’ saloon, with a 3 seater Klik Klak sofabed, 2 wooden stools, Boatman solid fuel stove, and a range of cupboards for storage. A 12v wall mounted smart TV and Bose sound system provide ample entertainment. Side hatches either side bring in additional light and fresh air.
The bathroom follows, and is large at 7’ 1”, with a Sani Marin pumpout loo, large shower area with tiled surround, and a ceramic circular counter sunk basin (made in Morroco). There are plenty of cupboards and drawers in here for storage.
Following this, the 11’6” bedroom is in the forward cabin, featuring a 6’4”x4’ fixed double, with cupboards over and storage under. There is also a 15” Cello TV/DVD player. A port side hatch brings in additional light and fresh air, and is a lovely feature to have in the bedroom.
The well deck has been made into a standing height conservatory area, with cushioned benches either side (water tanks under), and a demountable table.
She is centrally heated by the Heritage range (which is Wifi enabled), as well as an air conditioning unit, which can be used as heating too. Hot water is via the engine, range or immersion.
12v power is via 2x brand new 240ah domestics, separate starter, and dedicated generator battery. 230v power is via the Victron Multiplus 3kw inverter/charger, 10kw Beta generator, or landline. The power is topped up by 200w of solar with a Victron MPPT solar charge controller.
The lighting is LED throughout, including under gunwhale lighting.
