Comfortably Numb – 57′ Semi Trad 2007 Hilford & Horton
Comfortably Numb is a lovely 57’ “go anywhere” length semi trad narrowboat built in 2007 by Hilford & Horton. Following a full repaint in 2018, and extensive inventory upgrades in the last couple of years, she is very presentable indeed.
She had a full survey in 2019, and was last blacked with new anodes in August 2021.
She is fitted out in ash faced ply with ash trim and is a traditional layout. The gas bottles are in the forward locker and the well deck is covered by a cratch cover (new 2019) and has the stainless steel 450 litre water tank underneath. There are bench seats around the well deck housing the bowthruster and storage.
Steps lead down into the open plan saloon. This is over 15’ long and has a diesel Reflex stove (new 2022) with separate diesel tank, and a couple of super comfy armchairs. There are a couple of cupboards (TV aerial point over one) and some shelves. There are two extra wide double glazed side hatches in here (new 2022) and plenty of room for a sofabed if desired.
The large (nearly 10’) galley follows. The worktops are granite, and utilities comprise of a four burner gas hob, oven & grill, a stainless steel sink, a 12v fridge with icebox, a 7 bottle wine rack, full size washing machine and plenty of storage.
The walk through bathroom is spacious. There is a stylish counter top ceramic basin, a composting loo (but spare Thetford cassette is available is preferred) and a good sized quadrant shower with storage in between the shower and the cabin side. There is also a heated towel rail.
A door leads to the bedroom. The fixed double is 6’3”x4’ and has easily accessible storage under all of it. There are cupboards over the head end, and a wardrobe and floor to ceiling shelving cupboard at the foot of the bed.
Steps lead up to the semi trad deck. The engine is under here, a regularly serviced Beta 38 (refurb in 2018) along with the bank of four domestic batteries and the starter. The calorifer is in here also. The rear deck is protected by an easily collapsible pramhood cover (new 2019).
She is centrally heated by a Webasto diesel fired boiler and the hot water is heated by the engine or the Webasto. 230v is from either the landline hook up point or the 2.5kw Sterling inverter / charger. All the lighting is LED and she has 690w solar power.
A lovely boat ready for immediate occupation.
