Clonard – 46′ Trad 1988 Dennis Cooper
Clonard is 46’ traditional narrowboat built in 1988 by Dennis Cooper. She is in need of a bit of TLC, as the price reflects, but she benefits from a full survey in 2018.
At 46’, she offers plenty of space for comfortable living or cruising and is equipped to do so.
The well deck is a good size at 4’6” and has the stainless steel watertank under. The bench seats either side have storage underneath and the three gas bottle are housed in the forward locker.
A step leads into the galley. This is 7’ long and houses a stainless steel sink, a 2 burner gas hob, oven & grill, and a 12v fridge with icebox. There are plenty of cupboards & drawers for storage and the Paloma gas instant water heater is on the wall.
The saloon follows and has a beautiful oak bureau, a lovely Epping solid fuel range, and a large couch (which extends to make a single berth). There is a TV aerial point and a DAB radio in here, and at the aft end of the room is a large wardrobe and a cupboard.
The bedroom is next. The fixed double bed measures at 6’4”x4’ and has storage underneath. There is also a cupboard and a shelf at the foot of the bed.
Moving aft, the bathroom sits on the port side off the corridor. It is compact at 3’6” long, but has all the necessary components; the loo is a Porta Potti, there is a tiled rectangular shower area with curtain, and a little corner wash basin.
A door leads into the stern cabin which houses the Perkins engine.
On board 12v supply is from the bank of 3 domestic batteries, topped up by the 200w of solar power, and 230v is from either the landline or the 1000w Sterling inverter. All the lighting is LED, and she has a galvanic isolator.
She was last blacked in 2018 and the eight anodes on her were fine at the time.
With her pine T&G fit out, and the lovely engineered oak floor, she has a really cosy feel to her and with a bit of effort will make someone a lovely floating home or holiday boat.
