Cairn Toul – 57′ Semi Trad 2011 M&D Narrowboats
Cairn Toul is a lovely 57’ semi traditional stern narrowboat built by M&D Narrowboats and fitted out by David Perry in 2011. She is in good condition and has been well looked after.
She was repainted externally and blacked in 2019, and fitted with a new cratch cover and stern tonneau at the same time. Internally she is fitted out with ash faced ply with ash trim, and engineered oak flooring throughout, with the exception of the tiled bathroom.
The well deck features wrap around storage lockers, doubling up as external seating for a cosy social space.
Steps lead down into the large saloon, at 12’ 8” long, and features a Morso Squirrel multi fuel stove, corner cupboard and a range of shelves too.
The L-shaped dinette in the second half of this room converts to a spare double birth, with two demountable tables, and storage under. A glass fronted cabinet, which hangs from the ceiling, separates the saloon from the galley, and is accessible from both sides.
The galley features a stainless steel sink, separate draining sink, and adjustable tap, a Thetford Caprice MKIII oven & grill, with 4 burner gas hob, a 12v fridge with ice box, a Sharp microwave, and plenty of storage options. There is also room to convert one of these cupboards to house a washing machine if required.
The starboard side hatch over the galley worktop brings in plenty of extra light and fresh air to this open plan space.
Moving aft, the walkthrough bathroom houses a Thetford cassette loo, marble bowl basin over shaped vanity unit, and a tiled corner shower unit with acrylic sliding doors. The heated towel rail is a lovely touch, adding a warming and practical element to this room.
The fixed double bedroom follows in the aft cabin, where the mattress is in two halves, allowing the bed to slide out to 6’2” x 4’6” for extra sleeping room. There is plenty of storage in here, both under the bed and shelves over, with a wardrobe at the foot end. A clever adjustable shelf drops down in the centre of the bed for morning cups of tea.
Steps lead out on to the semi trad rear deck, with storage lockers either side, and the Isuzu 42 engine under.
She is centrally heated by a diesel fired Eberspacher system, and hot water is from the engine, Eberspacher or the immersion heater.
230v power is supplied by the 2.5kw inverter/charger and landline, with 12v power from the bank of four 110ah domestic batteries, with a separate 100ah starter. The lighting is LED throughout.
Cairn Toul is a truly charming boat, all set for a comfortable liveaboard life or extended cruising.
