Ashdown – 59′ Semi-Trad 2005 Midland Canal Centre
Ashdown is a charming 59’ semi-trad narrowboat built in 2005 by Midland Canal Centre. She is fitted out in ash faced ply with ash trim, and solid oak flooring throughout.
She is well presented, having been repainted by Stowe Hill Workshop last year, and she was last blacked in March 2021.
The cratch covered well deck is 4’0”, with lockers either side, and a central table which folds down to reveal a glazed cratch board. This features typical Stowe Hill paintwork in a traditional canal style.
Steps lead down into the 9’0” saloon, with 2 captains chairs, matching footstools, an Aarow Becton Bunny solid fuel stove, 24” TV, shelves and a cupboard.
The L-shaped dinette area features 2 different sized demountable tables, with storage under the seats. This converts to a spare double when needed. A port side hatch brings in additional light and fresh air.
Next is the 8’0” galley, with a marble effect laminate worktop, 12v LEC fridge, Spinflo Caprice oven, grill & 4 burner gas hob, stainless steel sink, and a range of cupboards for storage. A starboard side hatch and houdini hatch bring in additional light and fresh air.
The off-corridor bathroom (6’0”) features a square shower tray with vinyl surround, ceramic wash basin, Tecma pumpout loo with porcelain seat, and a series of shelves and cupboards.
The bedroom is large at 12’8”, with a 6’2” x 4’6” cross bed, cupboards over, drawers either side, and a large double wardrobe. A smaller single wardrobe houses a Candy Aquamatic washing machine, and currently stores a microwave.
Steps lead out onto the 5’0” semi-trad deck, with lockers either side. The Barrus Shire 45 engine is housed below, which was last serviced in Feb 2023.
She is centrally heated by a Mikuni MX40 diesel fired boiler, connected to 4 radiators and a towel rail, with a digital timer. Hot water is via the Mikuni, engine or immersion when on landline.
12v power is supplied by a bank of 5x 110ah domestics, with a separate 90ah starter, topped up by 440w of solar with an MPPT charge controller. 240v power is via a Victron Phoenix 2500w inverter/charger, or landline.
Lighting is LED throughout, except for in the bedroom.
She is tried and tested as a liveaboard, and is ready for immediate occupation. The fresh paintwork will surely get the dog walkers staring!
