Amelia Rose – 57′ Cruiser stern 2003 – is a 57’ ‘go anywhere size’ cruiser stern narrowboat. She was built in 2003 by Floating homes and fitted out by the original owner. The current owner bought her in 2017 (and had a full survey – available for inspection) and she is now for sale as they are having another boat built. In that time, a significant amount of money has been spent on her including blacking, new anodes, engine service & overhaul, new batteries, new calorifier, new galvanic isolator and various bits of exterior paintwork.
The layout is unusual but an interesting one offering a huge amount of space. From the large stern deck you descend into a short corridor on the starboard side off which lies the bathroom. This is roomy at 7’6” long and houses the Excellence Porta Potti loo, a good sized shower cubicle, a large counter sunk wash basin and various storage areas.
The bedroom follows; it offers over 13’ of space and a fixed 6’ 4” double which extends to 5’ wide. There is storage under the bed and room for a free standing chest of drawers. There is also a large cupboard / wardrobe at the forward end. A houdini hatch (with blackout blind) is over the bed.
The saloon comes next, another large area at over 15’ long. A large sofabed sits next to the wall mounted 19” TV, and the solid fuel stove sits opposite space for cosily arranged dining table and two comfy chairs. A side hatch either side in here adds light and air as and when required.
The galley is the forward most area of the boat. This is light and airy with good sized windows, the front glazed doors and a houdini hatch in the ceiling. The sink and fridge sit on the port side and the gas hob, oven & grill are opposite. There is storage and prep space aplenty in here.
The doors from the galley lead into the well deck and the integral water tank sits in the forward hold.
She is propelled by a Perkins Prima 4 cylinder engine. Onboard 230v is souced via either the 2.5kw inverter or the landline, and hot water is from either the engine or the immersion heater. All the coach style windows have both blackout blinds and fly screens.
