Albatross – 57′ Cruiser 2007 Hixon Hulls / Stem to Stern
Albatross is an excellent condition go-anywhere 57’ cruiser stern narrowboat built by Hixon Hulls in 2004, and fitted out by Stem to Stern boat fitters. She has been so well cared for, benefiting from a full external repaint in Summer 2021, recent survey in June 2022, and blacking in July 2022.
The open well deck is large at 5’0” with wrap around seats, and storage space under. There is easy access to the gas locker, and views across the bow from here.
Steps lead through glazed forward doors (and glazed bulkhead) into the 14’11” saloon. Fitted out by highly skilled woodworkers, the beech faced ply and solid oak trim gives the boat a lovely light feel. The cupboards in here have curved doors, and a few shelves add to the storage options. A dinning table with 2 chairs sits towards the galley, with plenty of space for comfy armchairs or a sofa bed.
The 9’5” galley follows, with a stainless steel sink, Country Leisure oven, grill & 4 burner gas hob, DeLonghi microwave, 12v Shoreline fridge with icebox, and plenty of cupboards and shelves. A starboard side hatch brings in additional light and fresh air. There is also potentially space for a washing machine by converting one of the cupboard spaces.
Next is the 6’0” bathroom, with a large corner quadrant shower with tiled surround, Thetford cassette loo (with 2 spare cassettes), and ceramic basin over vanity unit.
The bedroom (9’5”) features a fixed 6’0” x 4’0” double berth, with storage under and cupboards over. A full height double wardrobe and additional cupboard space sit at the aft.
Steps lead out onto the 7’0” cruiser stern deck, with the Isuzu 38hp engine housed below.
She is centrally heated by a Hurricane diesel fired system connected to 3 radiators and a towel rail, and hot water is via the engine or the Hurricane.
Lighting onboard is halogen throughout.
12v power is supplied by the bank of 3x 125ah domestics with a separate starter, and 240v power is via a Struder C-1312 Compact inverter/charger. There is also a Mastervolt battery monitor and landline hookup.
Just like the birds, Albatross is built for extended time out on the water, and will make somebody a lovely livaboard home.
