Oakapple 65ft Traditional Narrowboat is a stunner, in fact she is an award winner – taking the Crick Best in Show in 2010. She is a 65’ Trad style narrowboat built by Barn Owl narrowboats on a Lambon shell. Low slung lines with an imposing paint scheme, she boasts an immaculate Gardner 2LW in a traditional engine room and back cabin decorated in a less traditional style – although Dave Moore has done some of the artwork.
She is in very good condition for the amount of travelling she has done with her owners. The boat has all the mod cons needed for extended cruising, a 3kw inverter, dishwasher, washing machine, 300W of solar panels…all within a beautifully finished and well thought out surround. There is a Vetus Genset installed although this has remained unused for the last 5 years and is at present not operational.
The front deck offers a large storage locker being a gas free boat, which can also be accessed from the well deck. The well deck has locker/seats, one hiding the domestic fuel tank for the stove.
From here into the 14’ open plan saloon, with a half dinette. The fit out and finish in here, as with the whole boat, is lovely with oak panels inlaid with gorgeous pippy oak veneer inlays and oak trim. Comfortable chairs sit opposite the cabinet ensconced TV and surround sound system, a virtually new Lockgate diesel stove heats the room.
The galley features the lovely Heritage range cooker which also heats the radiators throughout the boat along with the hot water. Washing machine, Dishwasher, large Shoreline fridge freezer and microwave compliment the facilities.
The walk though bathroom features a bath with powershower over, a pump-out toilet, and a circular basin over a vanity cupboard.
The bedroom has lots of storage and is well lit with lovely cabinets throughout.
The very clean and neatly organised engine room follows (with two side hatches) housing the Gardner, most of the boat electrics are situated here.
And last but for sure not least, the stern cabin, this is simply a lovely second bedroom with artwork by Dave Moore. The traditional cross bed is wide at 4’ 6”. there is the drop down table and a little boatman’s solid fuel stove to keep the room toasty.
Oakapple 65ft Traditional Narrowboat is a beautiful combination of all the best of the modern coupled with a flavour of the past, OakApple has to be viewed to appreciate her quality.
