Boat type: Trad
An ideal long term cruising or residential craft of “go anywhere” dimensions, Ethel is a traditional narrowboat launched in 2001. The steelwork by Piper Boats, one of the longest established boat builders still very much in business on our waterways today, with a 47 year history of success behind them. The interior was fitted out by Brayzel Narrowboats, who also have an established name for quality. A quality that leaps out at you the moment you set foot inside this delightful craft. Apart from the well thought out design, which offers copious amounts of storage, the quality of the joinery is immediately obvious – no sharp edges or corners, every drawer and cupboard door opens and close neatly after 15 years, and if anything tests decent joinery, it is the passage of time. The light oak finishes give the interior a bright and airy feel, with a decent sized yet cosy saloon complete with a multi fuel stove sensibly sited in the middle of one side. There are two free standing upholstered reclining armchairs. The open plan galley follows. Beyond that is a centre cabin with a built in bench seat that offers the option of becoming and office, a further utility room or a guest bedroom – the built in seating could be easily adapted to make a pull out double berth. The shower room is next and doors at either end of the short corridor that leads to it effectively make it a full width space if desired. The bedroom follows, which has a 4’ 6” wide cross bed, two wardrobes and built in bedside chests of drawers. Finally there is an aft cabin, with a Beta Marine 43hp diesel engine beneath the raised floor, which has been designed for easy access to the engine. There is also a bowthruster, a Mastervolt 1.5kW inverter/charger and a 3.5kW Travelpack generator.
