Earl – 40ft Cruiser stern narrowboat, built in 2002 by Black Country narrowboats.
She is a charming boat in good condition, and will make for a perfect holiday boat or even a comfortable and cosy live-aboard.
The gas locker on this boat is on the stern deck, so the locker in the well deck is used for navigation equipment (windlasses, mooring pins etc).
Into the nearly 11 foot saloon through a single door on the starboard side. There are two comfortable armchairs in here, a couple of tables (one a fold out with gate leg) and a storage cupboard which serves as the TV and radio cabinet. The solid fuel stove in here provides the on board heating.
The galley follows, with the usual 4 burner gas hob, oven & grill, a 12v fridge and sink unit.
The bathroom is next. This houses a Porta Potti loo, a tiled and curtained shower cubicle and an oval basin set over a vanity cupboard.
The bedroom with a fixed 6’3” long double berth is at the rear of the boat and has a wardrobe and plenty of storage under the bed.
The cruiser stern deck sits over the Yanmar engine, and has the gas locker on the port side.
She is lined out in oak faced ply above the gunwales and to the ceiling, with carpet below the gunwales and on the floor. This gives her a warm, cottagy feel and is all in good condition.
Earl is a 40ft Cruiser stern narrowboat, but the feeling of light and space on board, in my opinion, is more than that seen or felt in many boats of this length.
