Avanti – 58′ Trad 2007 Midland Canal Centre
Avanti is a lovely 58ft traditional stern narrowboat built in 2007 by Midland Canal Centre. They do a first class job and Avanti is no exception.
She is in very good condition both inside and out and has been well looked after. She is fitted out in oak faced ply with a solid oak floor.
The 4’ well deck offers good social space and leads into the good sized saloon. This has a Morso solid fuel stove, shelves, cupboards with a TV point, and two very comfy reclining captains chairs. A pigeon box in the celing adds light and air.
Aft of the saloon is the L shaped dinette. This will comfortably seat six for dinner and converts into a spare double berth.
The walk though galley is practically arranged and houses a 4 burner gas hob, oven & grill, a 12v fridge with icebox, a washing machine, stainless steel sink and plenty of storage. A houdini hatch adds light and air in here, as do the two side hatches – port and starboard.
The layout then deviates from the norm, and I think it works. A central corridor has a separate loo and shower on the portside and cavernous storage cupboards on the starboard side. The loo is a Thetford cassette, the basin is ceramic and the shower is a good sized recangular cubicle.
The bedroom is towards the stern. The fixed double is 6’3” x 4’ and has storage under, and at the foot of the bed is a huge double wardrobe. Another pigeon box in here adds further light and air.
The stern cabin is last and houses the electrics and the engine, a Yanmar Shire 45hp – well maintained and with only 1,900 hours on the clock.
She is centrally heated by an Eberspacher diesel fired system, hot water is supplied by the engine, Eberspacher or the immersion heater, and on-board 230v is from either the 3kw inverter or landline. Lighting is LED throughout. Navigation is assisted by the 85kgf bowthruster.
She is ready to move on to, whether it be for residential or holiday use.
